Years ago a group of my church buddies and I used to get together and drink what seemed like every weekend one summer. We would talk about random stuff or play video games. It was some of the best times we ever had together. Someone would always end up doing something stupid, like trying to whisper through the vents at one guys sister asleep upstairs or throwing a dart into a case of beer and having it explode all over the carpet. Now most of us are married and don't hang out that much anymore, but we we'll always have that summer of drinking and acting like idiots.

Thanksgiving 2007. I was at my mother's house that Thanksgiving, my sister and her family came over with her husband and two kids. Her son had gotten sick in the car, some kind of stomach flu. He kept throwing up all day and we tried to make the best of it but someone was always taking him to the bathroom or cleaning up the floor when we were too slow to make it to some form of sink or toilet. After dinner everyone else was in the kitchen and I was in the living room sitting in an arm chair and the sicko was lying on the floor beside me. We were watching TV and I could tell he was tired. So, I reached down and just put my hand on his head, slowly brushing his hair. I looked down and he closed his eyes for a few minutes. Then he opened his eyes and looked at me. I will never forget that soft look. He passed away a few months later at the age of two.
The Inspiration
I always enjoyed listening to stories from friends, family and even strangers about these amazing moments they experienced. Love stories, war stories, childhood memories and family tragedies. I love sites like postsecret or thenarrative.net but I always wanted a forum that I could go to and read about these simple moments that make up peoples lives. So here it is, a project I am starting to create that forum. I hope to get your interaction as readers and authors.
